Sonya M. Sloan, M.D., known as #OrthoDoc, has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the male-dominated field of orthopedic surgery. At Baylor College of Medicine she made history as the first African-American female intern in general surgery and the first African-American female orthopedic surgery resident.

Her work reaches far beyond the hospital walls. She founded ME&WE, Inc. and SLOAN STEM+Arts, started the philanthropic effort behind a medical clinic in Haiti, and is one of the founders of National Black Women Physicians Day.
